| Legal Notice The sale of realistic looking replica firearms of a design first dating after 1870 has now been banned in the UK although certain exemptions apply:
Certain bodies are permitted to purchase realistic imitation firearms for specific activities which include: museums or galleries, theatrical, television and film productions and rehersals, also organisations holding historical re-enactment events and those who are Crown exempt.
In respect of historical re-enactment a copy of that organisation's third party liability insurance must be provided before purchase. Other organisations will need to demonstrate that they are exempt by producing suitable documentation.
For further information look on "The Law & Useful Information" page on this site or Tel: 01432 344610
There continues to be further pressure put on replicas and, currently, very little is now available. Those wishing to collect realistic looking replicas however may look at pellet firing airguns which, because they are under different legislation, are still permitted. Such weapons are available in a variety of types and styles ranging from basic BB firing to full blowback gas operated. |
